1. Men's and women's marathon (42.195km)
2. Men's and women's half marathon (21.0975km)
3. Men's and women's 10km
4. Men's and women's 5km
5. National Marathon Championships will only have Men's and Women's marathon. CAA registered athletes will be ranked in a separate division.

V. Entry Rules:

1. Age Categories:
(1) Athletes participating Marathon or Half Marathon should be over 18 year's old, or born before Dec. 31, 1987, healthy, with professional training background of more than two years.
(2) Athletes participating 10km race should be over 15 year's old, or born before Dec. 31, 1990.
(3) Athletes participating 5km race should be over 13 year's old, or born before Dec. 31, 1992.

2. Registration:
(1) Both individual and group registrations will be accepted. All entries are required to fill out the Entry Form individually.
(2)Group registration can be made through organizations including provincial, municipal governments, clubs, plants, companies and schools. The entry forms must bear the official seals of the organization and medical institutions. [Page]
(3) Insurance policies are required to be shown when making registration.
(4) No restriction for the number of Marathon entries.
(5) The number of Half Marathon entries is restricted to 4000.
(6) The number of 10km race entries is restricted to 6000.
(7) The number of 5km race entries is restricted to 7000.

 

3.Entry Fee:
(1) Domestic(including Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao) entries: RMB25.00 per person. Athletes who are registrant in the Chinese Athletic Association participating in the National Marathon Championship will not be charged.
(2) Overseas entries: USD20.00 per person.
(3) Students entered by schools: RMB10.00 per person.

(2) Half Marathon, 10km, 5km races: from Jan 10, 2005 till the restricted number restriction.

VI. Competition:
1. The races will be conducted in accordance with the current Rules and Regulations of the International Federation of Athletic Associations.

4. Electronic timing will be adopted. Each participant must wear a electronic coded chip. A deposit of the chip is RMB100.00, which will be refunded in the rest area at the Finish after the race.
5. The top eight finishers of Half Marathon, 10km and all Marathon runners who finish within 6 hours will receive a certificate at the Competition Secretariat by shown their number bibs one hour after the finish of the competition.
6. Finishers of Half Marathon, 10km and 5km races within closing time are requested to put on him/her own time on the certificate by him/herself in accordance with the time shown on the electronic board at the finish.

8. Doping controls will be conducted.

 

VII. Awards:

1. Marathon:
(1) World best performance: USD100000.00
(2) The top eight finishers in Men's and Women's Marathon will be awarded prize money (in USD, see the chart below), a trophy, a medal, a certificate and a set of track suit.

Groups whose registrant athletes finishing Men's and women's Marathon within closing time reach the following numbers shall receive team awards:
a. More than 200, RMB10000.00 will be awarded to the team.
b. More than 150, RMB5000.00 will be awarded to the team.
c. More than 100, RMB3000.00 will be awarded to the team.
d. More than 50, RMB2000.00 will be awarded to the team.
(4) Finishers of Marathon within closing time will be issued with souvenir medals and certificates.

2. Half Marathon:

  • Physical Features: mainly downland, small plain near the sea; Xiamen island and continent is connected by the sea bank; wide gulf with deep water, without freezing and silting
  • Population: 2.17 million
  • Area: 1,569 sq km

  • History: the administration organizational system of Xiamen has begun since Song dynasty, Ming built the city walls and established Xiamen as a major seaport and commercial centre; the city has significantly benefited from Taiwanese, overseas Chinese and foreign investment and its designation as a Special Economic Zone in 1980.
  • Climatic Features: subtropical monsoon climate; the black frost period last 364 days; the average wind power is 3 to 5 level, mainly the northeast wind.
  • Average Temperature: annual average 20.8 C, with the absolute highest temperature of 38.4 C, lowest of 2 C.
  • Rainfall: the annual precipitation is 1100mm; concentrated on May, June and July.
