| Sanming, a city under the jurisdiction of Fujian province, is situated between the Wuyi Mountains and Daiyun Mountains. Saming covers an area of 22,959 km2, and has a total population of 2.0675 million .Saming has been accredited as “a green treasure” for its amazing 76.8% coverage acreage. The annual average temperature in Sanming is 19.04°C making possible year-round traveling and sightseeing. Sanming is richly endowed with tourist resources for its time-honored history, multitudinous talents, charming landscapes and distinct features. A paleoanthropic cultural relic of over 200,000 years ago was unearthed in Yanqian. Historically, Shibi in Ninghua County functioned as a transit site for the Hakkas large-scale migration from the North to the South ,and was revered as “the ancestrsl home of the Hakkas”.
The propitious Sanming has been very prolific in outstanding talents.Many historical figures were born here ,such as Yang Shi,Luo Congyan ,Zhu Xi of the Song Dynasty who ranked among the “4 Prominent Confucian Scholars of the Li School ”;Huang Shen, the famous painters and one of the “8 talents in Yangzhou ” of Qing Dynasty; and Yi Bingshou, one of the “most renowned 4 calligraphers ” in Qing Dynasty, among others.
Sanming has been lauded since ancient times as a tourist Mecca with numerous scenic spots and historic sites ,boasting the “World 's Most Spectacular Lake ” ----Jinhu Lake in Taining County ,the “Narrow Ray of Sky” scene in Taoyuan Cave in Yongan County which was described by the famous geographer Xu Xiake as “grand and imposing , out-of –the-way yet complete ,”and the “Fairy Cave ” ---the Yuhua Cave in Jiangle County ,etc. So far ,58scenic spots and tourist resorts have been completed ,which feature “mountain ,water ,cave, forest ,stone ,and ancient culture .”Among them ,there are 3 state-level key scenic resorts: Jinhu Lake in Taining Taoyuan Cave and Stone Forest in Yongan ,Yuhua Cave in Jiangle ;4 national 4 A tourist atttactions;Jinhu Lake in Taining ,Taoyuan Cave in Yongan ,Ruiyun Mountain in Meilie ,and Geshikao in Sanyuan;2 national forest parks:the Maoershan National Forest Park in Taining and Sanyuan National Forest Park :1 nationsl geological park : the Ddjinhu Lake ;3 national key historic reservation;Shangshu (a high rank official in ancient China equivalent to a minister ) Mansion ,the architectural complex of Ming Dynasty,Wanshou Rock in Sanyuan ,and Anzhen Fortress in Yongan Sanming enjoys quick and easy transportation access.
The National Highway 205 and 316 ,and the provincial Highway 212 combine to form a criss-cross highway network .Yingxia Railway passes through the urban area of Sanming. Now, the Special Trains “Yong's ”“Jinhu” and “Sanming ”shuttle regularly between Sanming and Xiamen .The Beijing –Fuzhou Express in Sanming is also under construction.
Sanming abounds in the varieties of products such as bamboo, timber, mushroom, Fujian bamboo shoots ,lotus, calamondin orange and natural gems .In addition ,the“8 Dried Food ” including Mingxi Jerky, Ninghua Dried Pepper and Roast Rat also enjoys a fair reputation at home and abroad . Anzhen Fortress (Anzhen Bao) The walls around Anzhen’ s 10,000 square meters compound were 9 meters high and 1 meter thick, the castle itself covered 2,999 square meteres. The wooden gates, six inches thick and sheathed in iron, had two fierce guards painted on each side.
The inner doors had paintings of fish, which from the Tang Dynasty until today have been thought to bring prosperity and health to people, if not to the fish themselves. Inner doors in old estates were opened only for the mayor, provincial governor, or emperor. Everyone else used the small doors to the left or right.
